Counselling - Relationships and Young Persons

Barbara Wilkinson

MA MBACP

Hello, finding the way forward is not easy. As an experienced, qualified counsellor I am offering a no obligation assessment session to help you work out what is right for you at this time.

Perhaps you need the space to talk through what you can expect from counselling and what kind of counsellor might be best to help you with your issues.

I have had 15 years’ experience of working with young people both in a centre and in a school setting. There are times when a young person can seem unhappy or withdrawn, this may be complicated for them to explain and take time to understand.

Young clients present with a broad range of issues, like family breakdown, self harm, alcohol or drug use by a family member, mental health of a family member, friendship issues or bullying.

My approach is based on the principles of Systemic Family Therapy, and encourages a consideration of their position, their situation and the relationships they have.

Many young people do not have the autonomy to make big changes, but by having the opportunity to discuss and reflect on their lives this can empower them to a greater sense of self-worth and a hopeful view of the future.

Relationship and Young Person Counselling

I specialise in personal and relationship work with individuals, couples and young people. I will help you to gain a clear overview of your current situation and to plan a way forward for you tailored to your needs. I offer this initial assessment at a lower cost of £40

A qualified and professional counsellor, I offer short and long term personal and relationship counselling. I qualified in 2005 but have continued in my learning journey since then.

In my clinical practice with a variety of clients with a respected charity, and I am qualified to MA level. I am also a counselling supervisor

After the initial consultation we can decide together the best route for you to take, should you wish to continue seeing me, we can agree a number of sessions to begin with, or we can take it on a week by week basis. If that is not the best option for you at this time, we can discuss other modes of counselling or support that may be open to you.

Supervision

I am a qualified supervisor currently working with Relate. I was trained in systemic and psychodynamic models including Hawkins and Shohet’s Seven Eyed Model of Supervision.

I can provide clinical supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors and I offer an initial assessment to meet and discuss your needs and requirements.

I am a BACP accredited counsellor and I work within the guidelines of the BACP ethical framework.

I have recently refreshed my training with a CPD - Delights and Difficulties of Supervision - Robin Shohet - Jan

2020 My fees for supervision are £50 for 60 mins and £70 for 90 minutes.

As an accredited member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to strict professional codes of practice based on the BACP Ethical Framework. I am committed to personal and professional development and attend courses and workshops on an ongoing basis.
